Things I am loving this Wet Wednesday ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Starting my new granny stripe blanket in front of the tv watching Anna Griffin Crafting that I sky+ on QVC yesterday, love her beautiful things!

Sorting through our holiday photos from our ski trip to Switzerland last week.

My thrifted enamel coffee pot and gorgeous bright supermarket tulips with a souvenir from our holiday.

Beautifully fragrant narcissi (supermarket again) brightening up my kitchen windowsill with vibrant mini iris from our garden.

Looking forward to having some time to start the hex-a-long with Melissa and friends.

Things I am not loving... :-(

Not being able to hear anything at the moment following the cold I picked up skiing.

The children picking up the same cold and earache meaning we can't go swimming or do much outside this half term week

Another devastating natural disaster.

Vintage Fair

This Saturday my friend and I scooted off to a visiting Vintage Fair. It was held at our local university, neither of us had been before but it had been recommended to me by a couple of lady jewllery makers at a local handmade fair so I knew we wouldn't be disappointed.

For a CS/car boot rummager/addict like me it was fantastic! Lots of quirky bits and pieces from clothing, shoes, jewellery, accessories, haberdashery things, old books and magazines and some fab american motel keyrings! Here's a few pics (we got there as the doors opened hence it looks quite quiet but by the time we left it was packed!).

They served absolutely gorgeous looking cupcakes and tea in china cups, we'd stopped for a coffee on the way there so we didn't partake, but next we visit we definitely will!

the red dress and a scarf (probably not going to wear them together and I need to learn how to wear scarves without looking like a boy scout)

An injection of colour for a windy Monday!

Hello again! I hope this blustery monday finds you all well :-)

This morning I've been tackling the chaos from the weekend tidying, cleaning, sorting, picking up tiny bits of lego, chasing our cheeky chickens who escaped from the run when the wind blew it open... Over coffee (with my blue hyacinths smelling gorgeous on the kitchen table) I felt in dire need of an injection of colour and thought of a special trip we took for my birthday last April to the bulbfields in Holland and Amsterdam.

If like me you love all things floral and lots of colour the displays of the bulbs and flowers were a visual feast for the eyes! If you ever get the chance to go to Holland during their bulb flowering season GO! I would definitely recommend it - its amazing! Most of these were taken at the Keukenhof gardens, the mecca for bulb hunters. These are just a few of the photos that I took.

The Gaptastic Cowl

I've just finished my second knitting project The Gaptastic Cowl.

Its from Ravelry and has had hundreds of knitters knitting it. The lady who wrote the pattern made after going into Gap and thinking "I can make that", she counted the stitches and went home and knitted it up. It was a really easy knit for a novice knitter like me, knit and purl in the round, the superchunky yarn meant it knitted up really quickly I used Rowan Drift superchunky 100% merino (3 balls).

This yesterday afternoon I started my third project, a cardigan. The pattern is also from Ravelry (The Shalom Cardigan) and looks fairly simple, (although there are bits in the pattern I haven't a clue what they mean, but I figure I'll pick it up as I go along. Thank you YouTube!). Its knitted on circular needles as well.

The yarn (from the lovely Little Wool Shop in Southwell) is Rowan Purelife British Sheep Breeds Chunky Undyed. I'm using the Steel Grey Suffolk a really pretty pale grey. I'll let you know how it goes. I might have to pick your brains!

I spent this morning sitting under the blanket on the sofa with a poorly daughter watching this. Love love love John Travolta!
